So, I’m starting this new blog. Right now, I’m sitting in my office in the Norfolk Federal Building. My first day back since what was termed a “Bomb Cyclone” rolled through last Wednesday evening. If you don’t know what a bomb cyclone is, think Ice Hurricane instead. It’s cold, there’s still snow an ice piled up on the streets. But who cares about all that. Let’s get to reason why I decided to start this project… The date was September 16, 2012, my 49th birthday. This was the day I finally became a scuba diver. Yes, it took me all that time to finally accomplish something I had wanted to do since I was in college. There are a lot of reasons why it took me so long, most of which are stupid and unimportant. The fact is, I did it and it has since put me on the path to something other than work, mortgage, retirement. It opened my eyes to something I had cut myself off from, my sense of adventure. It had gotten lost somewhere between fast living youth and responsible adulthood. How did I ever let myself fall into that? Well, I’m pretty much over adulting now.
